Sacrament of Penance 2020

Congratulations to our students who received the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation) on Wednesday 18 March for the first time. The liturgies were very prayerful and it was great to have the students with a family member supporting them, along with many of our school staff. It was great to have our non-Catholic families in attendance as their children received a blessing from one of the priests, embracing our school’s Catholic ethos and sacramental program.

Thank you to Fr Jude and Fr Silvio for giving their time to celebrate the Sacrament with us. Thank you also to Beth, our Religious Education Leader, for the organisation and preparation of the Sacrament of Penance. Thank you as well to the Middle 4 staff: Sam, Jeremy, Lisa and Geraldine for their work preparing the students and to all our staff who supported the children.

Opening Mass & Burning of the Palms 2020

On Friday 7 February 2020, we celebrated our Opening School Mass for the 2020 School Year. It was wonderful to have so many parents and family members join us for Mass and the Burning of the Ashes celebrated by Fr Jude. The outdoor setting worked very well and the students’ behaviour and involvement in Mass was wonderful.

Ash Wednesday 2020

On Wednesday 26 February 2020, we celebrated Ash Wednesday at our school. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather we had to cancel Mass. In place of Mass, we held a liturgy led over the speaker system with students and participating in their learning spaces. After the conclusion of the Liturgy of the Word, staff distributed the ashes to the students in their cohorts and then concluded with the hymn ‘Turn back to God’. Thank you to the St James parishioners who joined us for our liturgy. Thank you to Beth for organising the Ash Wednesday liturgy.
