CHILD SAFE STANDARDS

In July 2022, the Government released 11 new Child Safe Standards which aim to create child safe cultures and environments in organisations that work with children. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria LTD (CECV) has made a commitment to ensuring that the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is fundamental to Catholic Education. This commitment is drawn from the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the Gospel.

St Clare's Catholic Primary School is committed to providing a safe environment for all students and young people and will take active steps to protect them. To achieve this the school has developed and actively enforces Child Safety Strategies to ensure that any person involved in ‘child connected work’ is aware of their obligations & responsibilities for ensuring the safety of all children under their care. Child connected work includes classroom helpers, on excursions/incursions, with sporting programs/clinics or coaching, hot food days, uniform shop, school disco helpers and any school event or activity that involves working with children.

In accordance with requirements of the Victorian Government’s Ministerial Order No 1359, St Clare's Catholic Primary School maintains a culture of ‘no tolerance’ to child abuse. In order to maintain this culture, it is a requirement that staff and volunteers sign and commit to a code of conduct.
