St Clare of Assisi is an Italian saint and one of the first followers of Saint Francis of Assisi. Born in 1194, she founded the Order of Poor Ladies (later known as the Poor Clares), a religious community for women dedicated to a life of poverty, prayer, and simplicity. Inspired by Francis, Clare gave up a life of wealth to serve God, living in humility and caring for the poor. She is remembered for her deep faith, strong leadership, and devotion to Christ. At our school, we follow St Clare’s example by being kind, generous, and living with faith and courage.

ST CLARE’S SCHOOL PRAYER

Loving God,

we give thanks for our unique and diverse community,

brought together by your grace.

Illuminate the path so that we,

like St Clare,

can always follow the example of Christ.

Reflect in us your spirit of love, compassion and generosity.

May we continue to hold your light in our hands.

Amen.

Sacrament & Liturgy

At St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School, the Sacraments are special moments in a child’s faith journey, where they experience God’s love and the new life that Jesus brings. We work closely with families and the St. James the Apostle parish to help prepare the children for these important Sacraments.

In Year 4, children celebrate the Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation) and the Sacrament of Eucharist (First Holy Communion). In Year 6, they will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. For children who come from different faith backgrounds or are not religious, a blessing will be offered during the sacramental Masses. Each Sacrament is planned with the support of the Parish Priest, Principal, Religious Education Coach, class teachers, and the parish community.

A key part of our Religious Education program is holding sacramental information nights for families. These nights give families a chance to learn more about the Sacraments and prepare together. There are also special Presentation Masses for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation at St. James the Apostle Church, where children can celebrate their faith with the wider parish community.

Meditation

At St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School, all staff and students take part in Christian Meditation each day. Christian Meditation is a time of quiet prayer where we focus on a simple mantra. At St. Clare’s, we use the mantra "maranatha" (Come, Lord Jesus) to help calm our minds and stay focused.

Through Christian Meditation, we aim to provide a peaceful space for stillness, silence, and simplicity, allowing everyone in our school community to connect with God.

Curriculum

The Religious Education curriculum at St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School helps students explore, understand, celebrate, and grow in their relationship with Christ. Students are encouraged to deepen their connection with God and are supported in contributing positively to their community and the world around them. The curriculum encourages students to love God, care for others, and respect all of creation, helping them to recognise and respond to God's presence in their lives.

The Religious Education curriculum combines the rich traditions of the Catholic faith with modern teaching methods and resources, ensuring a well-rounded and meaningful learning experience for all students.

"Warmest congratulations to the St Clare's Primary School community on the launch of your new website! I'm thrilled to see our third parish primary school shining brightly, reflecting the values of faith, learning, and community that we hold dear at St James the Apostle Parish.

To our Principal Ben Fahey and his dedicated staff, I offer my sincerest appreciation for your tireless efforts in creating a nurturing environment where every child is respected and can grow in their relationship with God and thrive academically. Your passion and servant leadership for making a difference in the lives of each child is truly inspiring, and I'm confident that St Clare's will continue to be a beacon of hope and love in our community. It is truly a pleasure serving with you.

As we journey together, both Fr John and I look forward to seeing the wonderful things that St Clare's will achieve, guided by its motto: 'A Community of Faith & Learning. Uniting, Serving, Empowering. ~ Your Light in Our Hands ~' May God bless and guide you all as you continue to shine your light for the benefit of all."

God bless you good people and go gently
